An Affair to Remember

Posted in 1950's, old movies, romantic movie, slight comedy at 5:15 am by moviesmusic

This movie stars Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Grant plays a guy who meets Kerr on a ocean liner going to New York, and they fall in love. One problem though, they both are engaged to someone else. So, they agree to meet in 6 months, at the top of the Empire State Building, if they still feel the same way about each other. This is one the best movies! I give it a A++!! This movie is a MUST see, and definitely a classic!

Hush…Hush Sweet Charlotte

Posted in 1960's, classic horror movies, film noir, horror movie, old movies, older movies, suspence, thriller at 5:07 am by moviesmusic

This horror movie stars Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland, Joseph Cotten and Mary Astor, with Agnes Moorehead. Davis plays a older lady who has lived in her mansion since the terrible murder of her boyfriend. Havilland, her sister, comes to try to help her out. Just what happened with the murder and why did Davis’s sister come back after so many years? This is a very good movie, quite different than anything de Havilland ever did! I give this movie a A-!

This movie stars Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn with Gig Young and Joan Blondell. Hepburn plays a lady who works in a library research place. Tracy comes in and wants to computerize everything, but by doing that, everyone will be out of a job. This is a really funny movie, and Tracy and Hepburn are GREAT together on screen!! I give this movie a A!

This movie, based on the book by W. S Maugham, stars Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney, John Payne and Anne Baxter. Power plays a guywho is a soul-searching WWI veteran who is in love with a high class gal, Tierney. Power decides to leave her and his career to travel abroad while trying to find the real meaning of life. This is a okay movie, Power and Tierney did a great job in it, but it was rather boring! I give it a C-.

National Treasure 2

This sequel to National Treasure came out in theaters today. Bill Gates (Nicolas Cage) has to prove that his great-great-grandfather was not responsible for Lincolns assassination. He has to do this by finding the code on one of the missing pages of diary of John Wilkes. This movie also stars Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha. This one was not as good as the first one. It wasn’t as funny, and the story wasn’t as good, but it still is a okay movie. I give it a B.

This movie will be coming out on the Disney Channel in August 2008. The plot is that the cheetah girls will be going to star in a movie, but they find out that they will have to be competing against each other to get the lead. This movie will not be staring Raven Symone because she said, “There are talks of doing another one, but my schedule is so busy, I don’t have the time.”

Their she fell in love with acting! In the 30’s she went to Hollywood to try to become a actress. Her first movies didn’t do very well, but in 1939, she made one of the best movies ever made, “Gone with the Wind”! She married Laurence Oliver in 1940, and they made several movies together and did many plays too. Leigh died in 1967 from chronic tuberculosis. She made only 19 movies, but many of them are now classics.

This color musical stars Gene Kelly and Judy Garland! Garland plays a gal who is in love with a legendary pirate, Macoco. Kelly plays a travling singer, and by accident, Garland mistakenly thinks that he is Mococo, and falls in love with him, even though she’s engaged! This movie did not do very well when it came out, I don’t know why! I LOVE it, it’s a great movie! Kelly and Garland are a GREAT team, it’s a good story, and has great music numbers like “Nina”, “Mack the Black”, ”Love of My Life”, “You Can do No Wrong”, and “Be a Clown”. I give this movie a A!

It has GREAT music numbers including, “Treat Me Rough”, “Embraceable You” and “I Got Rhythm”! I give this movie a A++!!

This Original Disney Channel movie stars Sara Paxton and Lucas Grabell (HSM and HSM2). Paxton plays a ‘good witch’ (think like the “Bewitched” tv show) who goes to the witches university to study magic and find out who she really is, but runs into some bully’s! This was a ‘cute’ but kiddish movie. Okay story, good acting, but nothing spectacular. Nice movie, but not a great one! I give it a C-.
