The Elephant Man

Posted in 1980's, bio, bio movie, old movies at 6:05 pm by moviesmusic

This true-story movie stars Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt. John Hurt plays John Merrick, the man every one calls ‘Elephant Man’. He had a extreme deformity, and was in a freak show until a surgeon (Hopkins) found him, and took care of him. This is a true story that took place in the 1800’s. I really recommend seeing this movie. It is extremely sad though. I give it a A+.  Here is a website to find out more about the life of John Merrick www.rarediseases.about.com/cs/proteussyndrome/a/031301.htm

Rise Stevens was born in New York in 1913. She attended the N.Y Julliard School of Music. She was only in 9 movies, but her greatest accomplishment was playing “Carmen” at the Metropolitan Opera in NY. Some of her movies included, “The Chocolate Soldier” with Nelson Eddy, and “Going My Way” with Bing Crosby. She is still living in New York.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Nelson Eddy and Rise Stevens star in this musical comedy. Eddy and Stevens play a married couple who are very famous musical comedy stars. Eddy thinks the Stevens isn’t in love with him anymore, and that she will fall for any guy in a uniform. So, he decides to dress up as a Russian nobleman, to ‘test’ Stevens! This is a REALLY funny movie, and has some great music numbers in it! I give this movie a A++!Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Grace Kelly

A real-life fairy tale! Grace Kelly was born on Nov. 12, 1929. She made more than 10 movies in her career before she married Prince Rainier of Monaco in April 19, 1956. She was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite leading actress, with the movies “To Catch A Thief”, “Dial M for Murder”, and “Rear Window”. Her last movie was “High Society” and then she became Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco! At her wedding, she wore a bridal gown that was made by MGM designer, Helen Rose. It was made from 125 yards of silk, 100 yards of silk net, a 125 year-old piece of rose point lace that she bought from a museum and thousands of little pearls that were hand sewn on her veil! It was the most expensive gown the Helen Rose ever made! Grace Kelly died on Sep. 14, 1982 from a car accident that occurred while she was driving and had a stroke. A Grace Kelly stamp came out in the 90’s.

HSM 3, not the same stars

Posted in 2000's, musical, new movies, new movies not yet out, sequal movie, slight comedy, t.v movies at 7:38 pm by moviesmusic

It’s rumored that Zac Efron, Vanessa Ann Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale will NOT be staring in High School Musical 3 (which will not be on the Disney Channel, but on the big screen)! It’s said that Efron, Hudgens, and Tisdale were offered one million dollars, but they turned it down, (It’s also said that Efron was offered 2.75 million, and the other stars 1 million). They are still going to make the movie, even though it might not have the stars that made HSM the fastest selling tv movie ever.
