Betty Grable made over 80 movies! Most of them were colorfull, fun musicals, which made her famous. She only made 2 serious movies, “Yank in the R.A.F” and “I Wake up Screaming”. She really disliked doing these movies, because she know that her fans didn’t want to see her in movies that weren’t song and dances. “Chrashing Hollywood” was her first movie were she actually got credit for it. “Pigskin Parade” really set her and a young singer named Judy Garland. She started making musicals, and soon she was the sweetheart of the movies. Her movies were always colorful, fun, and full of music. Some of her musicals were “Mother Wore Tights”, “My Blue Heaven”, “Pin-Up Girl”, “”Farmer Takes A Wife”, “The Dolly Sisters”, and many more! She died of lung cancer in 1973. Now they have some of her movies out on dvd in a Betty Grable collection set.

OOPS! Thanks!
Oh wait. Yes, I have. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have it in me right now to type it all out again. Besides, it was just ramblings anyway. You didn’t want to hear me go on and on about this, right?
Love betty Grable. Wish I could find a dvd of “Song Of the Islands” in Australia. Love the song “Down On Ami Ami Oni Oni Isle” I like her voice, and like to play her songs from the movies on Community radio in Tasmania. Tasman FM 97.7 where the old stars never die!!!
I have been very fortunate to find a copies of betty Grable Sheet Music on the internet in England. I have received, “You Started Something” from Moon Over Miami, “Once Too Often”, Pin Up Girl, and yes couldn’t believe it, “Down on Ami Ami Oni Oni Isle” from Song Of The Islands. I couldn’t believe it. I do a cabaret show in Hobart, Tasmania, and already I have included “You Started Something” in my act, and coupled it with “The More I See You”, and called it a tribute to Betty Grable. “Once Too Often’ and “Oni Oni Isle” are next, when I perfect the Hawaiin lyrics..not easy. The audience really liked “You Started Something”. Wish I could get the Moon Over Miami DVD, not released in Australia. So all you Betty Grable fans, please note that Betty’s songs are being sung in Tasmania, Australia, and I hope to keep her name alive. Best wishes to you all….Dame Palula Cork
